Welcome!

This blog is the diary of Sue Anne and Bruce’s trip to China in October 2006. We were there for two weeks, accompanying our daughter Sarah, her husband Dan, and some of Dan’s colleagues from the Universities of Alberta and Manitoba on a business trip with stops in Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing and a brief sidetrip to Suzhou.

We wrote this a day at a time from our hotel rooms, sometimes a day or so late if we were extra busy or extra tired. It was a great way of letting the folks back home know where we were and what we were doing, and it captured our impressions as they existed at the moment.

But since the format of blogs tends to be oriented toward current information, it’s now a bit awkward to follow our trip in the normal chronological order. So here’s the easiest way to navigate. Click one of these links to get to a key date:
